This is the entrance archway to Strata Florida Abbey, captured in late afternoon light in February 2012 from NGR SN7463065723. This is a former Cistercian abbey in the River Teifi valley near Pontrhydfendigaid, north of Tregaron. It was originally founded in 1164 by a group of monks from Whitland Abbey. The name Strata Florida is a corruption of the Welsh Ystrad Fflur, meaning vale of flowers. Canon EOS 40D, Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens at 16mm, Manfrotto tripod. Exposure F11 at 1/100 sec.
