This photo was taken in the afternoon on 4th November 2014, looking down the valley from Cwmystwyth Lead Mine, at NGR SN8017274433. The water in the foreground is emanating from Gill's Lower Adit before discharging into the Afon Ystwyth. A larger discharge from Pugh's Adit is just behind the old mine building. Mining has been carried out for lead, zinc and silver in this valley since Roman times, with production reaching its peak in the 18th century.
